Accepting an Invitation to a Medical Profile

If you received an email invitation from Primary Record, someone is inviting you to collaborate on a Medical Profile. This means they are giving you permission to view or help manage health information that matters to them.

What is a Medical Profile? #

A Medical Profile in Primary Record is a private, secure place where families and professionals organize health information to stay informed, reduce stress, and coordinate care.

When someone creates a Medical Profile for themselves or someone else, they become the Profile Organizer. They control who can access the profile and what each person is allowed to do—such as view files, upload notes, or help keep information updated.

Why was I invited? #

You were invited because someone trusts you to be part of their care circle. This could be as simple as staying in the loop or helping keep records current. People often invite:

  • Family members and close friends
  • Caregivers or patient advocates
  • Legal, insurance, or community professionals
  • Anyone helping manage care

You are always in control—accepting is optional, and you’ll see exactly what access is being shared before making a decision.

How to accept your invitation #

  1. Open your invitation email from Primary Record. It will include the name of the person who invited you and the profile name.
  2. Click the link in the email to go to www.primaryrecord.app
  3. Create your account (or sign in if you already have one).
    • Tip: You can use Google or Apple to make it easy.
  4. Review the invitation inside Primary Record. You’ll see a message from the Profile Organizer and the permissions they’re offering (such as view or edit access).
  5. Click Accept if you’d like to join. You’ll now see that Medical Profile under your account with the permissions that were granted.

What happens next? #

Once accepted, you can view the Medical Profile and take any actions based on the permissions given. You can always view your role and the permissions associated with it by going to Profiles> Access.

You can also start your own Medical Profile if you’re managing health for yourself or someone else.
